[BASEBALL CARTE DE VISITE ]. Carte de Visite Photograph of Ned Williamson of the Pittsburgh Base Ball Club in Uniform with Bat and Other Equipment. [Utica, NY: C. H. Scofield, 1877]. Albumen photo on photographer?s mount. Photo approximately 4 x 2 ??. Mount 4 ? x 2 ??. Some minor soiling to mount (front and rear), photo was slightly unevenly trimmed at a few margins when mounted. Excellent. Rare. Williamson played with Cap Anson?s Chicago White Stockings for many years, toured the world with Al Spalding, and at one time was the home run king of the National League; major league home run record (27 homers in 1884) lasted for thirty-five years, until Babe Ruth broke it. This is the only known photo of him in this uniform. From the Mark Rucker Collection.
