[BASEBALL CARTE DE VISITE]. Carte de Visite Photograph of an Unknown New York City Ball Player in Uniform with Bat. [New York, ca. 1865]. Albumen photo on plain mount. Photo approximately 3 ? x 2?. Mount approximately 4 x 2 ??. Some mild rubbing, soiling to mount, minor faint soiling to lower left corner of photo. Excellent. A wonderful example of a serious baseball player just after the Civil War. Players like this man were very common in New York City at this time. Collectors value photos of this nature - uniform, bat, and beard only add to the charm and interest. Rare. From the Mark Rucker Collection.
