BEARDSLEY, Aubrey (1872?1898), WILDE, Oscar (1854?1900). A Portfolio of Aubrey Beardsley?s Drawings Illustrating ?Salome? by Oscar Wilde. [London: Bodley Head, ca. 1906]. Folio. FIRST ISSUE with 17 unnumbered plates (complete) on Japanese vellum (later issued with a letterpress ?list of plates ?according to Lasner). Includes the censored first version of ?The Toilette of Salome?, deemed too scandalous for inclusion in the 1892 edition, loose as issued and housed in original half vellum (darkened with few scuffs) over green paper boards stamped in gilt (without silk ties). Later bookplate to front pastedown; plates clean and fine. A RARE FIRST ISSUE. Lasner 59E.
