BUKOWSKI, Charles (1920-1994). Unreleased CD of Bukowski Discussing His "Woman Troubles," Plus Typed Letter Signed by John Martin. [John Martin: March 2, 2001]. Homemade CD by Bukowski's friend and publisher, John Martin (publisher of Black Sparrow Press). With typed letter signed by Martin, describing the genesis of this CD.
Untested. Fine.
The letter is addressed to Bukowski collector Allen Berlinski and is signed "John." "Dear Al: First of all, you didn't get this from me! This CD is being passed around in L. A. among "friends." It's not being sold. It's a 29-year-old tape, in terrible condition, that was cut by Hank and Claire Cherry (Neely's Mother) in 1972. Hank was having woman troubles (mainly with Linda King) and someone (Neely?) convinced him that Claire had remarkable powers at helping people solve their problems. So Hank and Claire sat down with a tape recorder with Claire as the "psychologist." Nothing much happens and Claire is no "psychologist." It's all somewhat interesting in a surreal way. Best, John". Neely Cherkovski (mentioned above) was Bukowski's friend and biographer. Rare.
