BURBANK, Luther (1849-1926). Clipped Signature in Paradox Walnut Frame. [N.p., n. d.] Clipped signature sight approximately 1 x 3". Matted and framed under glass with a photo of Burbank. Frame size approximately 11 1/2 x 9 1/2".
Minor toning to clipped signature. Fine. According to the printed description on the verso from the "Luther Burbank Home & Gardens," the frame was made of wood from a Paradox Walnut tree, which was developed by Burbank in the 1880s. The wood in this frame is from a tree planted by Burbank himself. Burbank was a horticulturist and pioneering botanist, who had developed more than 800 strains of plants, including the "Burbank Potato," the most popular potato used in food processing (including the French Fries from McDonald's).
