BUTLER, Edward Mann (1784?1855). A History of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Louisville: for the author by Wilcox, Dickerman & Co., 1834. 8vo. Portrait frontispiece. Contemporary tree calf, gilt titling within gilt filleted compartments (extremities gently rubbed, upper joint tender with some separation, title and frontispiece foxed). FIRST EDITION, ?disputes many of Marshall?s findings; contains the Journal of Col. George Croghan, one of the earliest accounts in English of the Ohio country, previously appearing in magazine form? (Howes B?1059).
