[CHEATING]. Thimble Rig A La Mode. Extracted from The National Police Gazette, October 15, 1881 (New York: Richard K. Fox). Newspaper front page bearing a large engraved illustration, hand colored, depicting a female thimble rig operator working outdoors at a small three-leg table, shaded from behind by a young gentleman holding a parasol and smoking a cigar as she proceeds to swindle an unsuspecting bearded man, with caption below. Matted to 15 ? x 13 ??. Affixed with old tape. Light discoloration, warping.
