[CIVIL WAR]. BARNES, Surgeon ? General Joseph K. (1817-1883). The Medical and Surgical History of the War of the Rebellion. (1861-65). Washington: Government Printing Office, 1870-1888. Thick 4tos. Illustrated. Three parts in six volumes. Bound in modern half black morocco over gray cloth boards, spines ruled and lettered in gilt, modern floral endleaves (minor occasional soiling to boards; text with occasional wear, soiling, foxing). A fine set. FIRST EDITION, MIXED ISSUE (both volumes of Part First and Part Third of the Medical Volume are undesignated issues; Part Second of the Medical Volume and Part Third of the Surgical Volume are first issues; Part Second of the Surgical Volume is a second issue). This is the definitive medical record of the Civil War. From the renowned personal collection of Dr. George D. Lacy. Measurements: 12 x 11 x 4".
