[CIVIL WAR]. HOOD, J. B. (1831-1879). Advance and Retreat. Personal Experiences in the United States and Confederate States Armies. New Orleans, LA: Hood Orphan Memorial Fund, 1880. 8vo. Illustrated with 4 plates, including a folding map. 358, [2, blank] pp. Contemporary (publisher's?) half brown pebbled morocco over marbled boards, spine ruled and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, pink endleaves (binding somewhat worn, soiled, endleaves soiled, upper edge of text lightly dampstained, occasional additional soiling in text). Very good. FIRST EDITION. This memoir has much information about the Siege of Atlanta and the Tennessee campaign. Howes H622. From the renowned personal collection of Dr. George D. Lacy. Measurements: 10 x 7 x 1".
