COLLINS, Wilkie (1824-1889). The Woman in White. A Novel. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1860. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION of Collins?s mystery-detective novel, preceding the English edition by one month (but probably both were published in the last half of August). It was later adapted into film in 1948 directed by Peter Godfrey. Parrish, pp. 40-41; Sadleir 605; Wolff 1377b. A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone.
