[COSTUME]. RACINET, M. A. Le Costume Historique... Paris: Firmin-Didot, 1888. 6 large folios. Illustrated with (nearly) 500 plates, including 300 in chromolithography heightened in gold, and two hundred in sepia and white. Some volumes with half-titles, some with wrappers bound-in. Modern library bindings of full red cloth, spines gilt. FIRST FOLIO EDITION OF THIS MASSIVE HISTORY OF CLOTHING AND COSTUME.
Condition
Bindings worn, soiled, library shelf numbers on spines, text and plates a bit toned and thumbsoiled, ink stamps of the Goodman Theatre on endleaves and on the rear of each plate. Lacks one plate (#480 as per previous owner's pencil note). A few pencil markings throughout. Still, good.
