Cyrus W. Field: Signed Check. 7 x 2 1/2" National City Bank check for $200 dated December 2, 1878, and signed by Cyrus W. Field (1819-1892). Field was an American businessman and financier who, with the Atlantic Telegraph Co., laid the first transatlantic telegraph cable in 1858. The check is made out in another hand and signed by Field, payable to B.S. Olmstead. R&R COA.
General toning and light soiling, tape repair to reverse, several vertical folds, cancellation cut to center, revenue stamp at right. Very good.
