DeMoulin Lung Tester Prank Device. Greenville, IL: DeMoulin Bros. & Co., ca. 1890. With direction label to interior. Fraternal initiation device in which the inductee blows into the tester to measure his lung capacity against his brothers, only to have black soot or corn starch shoot back in his face. At the same time, a blank cartridge explodes inside the box. Paper-covered wooden box with internal metal mechanism and fixtures. Lacks mouthpiece and stand (easily replaced). 11 x 6 1/2 x 6". Owned by The Amazing Jonathan. Sold as-is.

Exterior well worn, but intact and in working order.
