DREYFUS, Alfred (1859-1935). Cabinet card photo. Paris: Gerschel, ca. 1870s. Captain Alfred Dreyfus, the French Artillery officer wrongfully convicted of treason in 1899, and subsequently fully exonerated, is portrayed as a younger man prior to his conviction, for which he served prison time in Devil?s Island. Borders trimmed and pasted on to board stamped Culver Photo Service on verso.
