[FINE BINDINGS AND SETS]. WILDE, Oscar (1854-1900). Sebastian Melmoth. London: Arthur L. Humphreys, 1904. Small 8vo. [223] pp. Title-page printed in red and black. Finely bound in contemporary full brown morocco, boards ruled and paneled in gilt, dark green morocco onlays, spine paneled and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, gilt board edges and turn-ins, green paper endleaves, all edges gilt. FIRST BOOK EDITION OF THIS POSTHUMOUS COLLECTION OF WILDE'S LETTERS AND OTHER WRITINGS.
Condition
Spine and board edges a bit toned and rubbed, some occasional soiling to bindings, some offsetting to free endleaves, ownership signature on first blank. Near fine.
- Provenance
Melmoth was Wilde's pseudonym after his release from prison. Armorial bookplate of Edward Winston Barron on fp. (not the same name as the signature on the first blank).
