[FINE PRESS BOOKS]. GRAY, Thomas (1716-1771). Poems and Letters of Thomas Gray. London: Chiswick Press, 1874. 4to. Illustrated with 4 mounted albumen photographs. [416] pp. Contemporary full calf, boards triple-ruled in gilt, spine ruled and tooled in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, red gilt morocco lettering label, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves, all edges gilt. FIRST EDITION, LARGE PAPER COPY, WITH A PRESENTATION LEAF FROM ETON DATED 1897.
Condition
Rebacked, preserving most of the original spine, boards worn and soiled, hinges starting, text a bit toned with occasional minor soiling, some spotting to albumen photos. Very good.

Eton presentation copies are common for this title. Only approximately 100 large paper copies were printed.
