GIBSON, Charles Dana (1867-1944). The Gibson Book. A Collection of the Published Works of Charles Dana Gibson in Two Volumes. Vol. I [II]. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, R. H. Russell, 1907. Oblong folios. 2 volumes. Publisher's full red cloth over beveled boards, front boards stamped in gilt. FIRST EDITION OF THIS SET OF COLLECTED WORKS OF GIBSON, CONTAINING ARTWORK FROM 11 BOOKS.
Condition
Boards worn, soiled, rear hinge of volume II is cracked, title-page of volume I is marginally chipped and creased, text leaves toned, a few gutters starting. Still, a very good example of these volumes.
- Provenance
Gibson created the famous "Gibson Girl," beautiful and independent young American women as drawn by him and featured in numerous publications and books in the late nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century.
