- Lot Description
GRIEG, Edvard (1843-1907). Signed and Inscribed Portrait. Bergen, Norway, 2nd December 1886. Inscribed by Grieg beneath his printed portrait (portrait with in-plate signature, ?J.M.B. 86" at upper left). Sight 8 x 4 ?". Matted and framed under glass. Framed size 11 ? x 8 ?". Toned, one tear apparent at lower portion of portrait. Very good. Not examined out of frame. Grieg was a Norwegian composer and pianist, whose music established a Norwegian musical identity for years to come. Perhaps his most famous work is his excerpt for ? ?In the Hall of the Mountain King," which has appeared in numerous films and other projects.
