Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., [1976]. 8vo. 587 pp. Publisher's black cloth backstrip over boards, spine stamped in brown and gilt, publisher's unclipped ("$12.50") dust jacket. STATED FIRST TRADE EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, WARMLY INSCRIBED TO HIS LITERARY AND FILM ATTORNEY, LOUIS BLAU, ON THE FFEP." September 14, 1976 Lou Blau, to state it simply, my feeling is that I couldn't ask for a better attorney, nor a truer friend!"
Condition
Binding worn at joints, some rubbing, soiling to binding; jacket chipped, worn toned, with numerous marginal tears, spine creased. A good copy in a fair dust jacket.
- Provenance
Roots was a bestseller, and won a special Pulitzer Prize in 1977. It was, of course, the basis of the landmark television miniseries (1977), which was both a huge critical and commercial success, spawning numerous sequels or other related television shows.
