HOFFMANN, Professor (Angelo Lewis, 1839 ? 1919). Collection of Hoffmann Ephemera. Including two sale lists of books from Hoffmann?s library (one issued by Hoffmann in 1913, bearing his address rubber stamp and his holographic inked date notation to the front panel; the second issued by Harry Hilckes, librarian of the Magic Circle two months later); text of the 1954 Hoffmann Memorial Lecture; ?Professor Hoffmann and Conjuring? by George Knight (an extract from The Windsor Magazine, 1896); two handbills advertising Magical Tit-Bits issued by Munro?s; a pocket-size catalog for Routledge?s Indoor Series of Pastime and Playtime Books (including works by Hoffmann, Goldston, and Houdini); and a program for the Maskelyne Hoffmann Centenary (Feb. 3, 1940). Sold together with Thomas Sawyer?s bibliography of Hoffmann?s works (Santa Ana, 1983).
