- Lot Description
Kepplinger Holdout. Alhambra: Owen Magic Supreme, ca. 1980. Owen crafted this Kepplinger holdout (Knee-Spreader) for Harry Anderson to use in his performance of The Grappler routine on Saturday Night Live in 1981 (he would perform it again on SNL in 1982). A complex device operated by spreading the legs, it delivers cards to the hand or retrieves them from the hand. Brass construction with other necessary elements for operation. One of only a handful constructed by Owen Magic and based on the 1888 design of the inventor. Minor tarnishing, but still in very good working condition.
