Lawrence & Cohen New York Illuminated Playing Cards. New York, ca. 1863. 50/52 (lack 2D, 9D). Square corner, gilt edges. Beautiful and richly printed in color with gilt illumination. In an original box with a paper label advertising Lawrence & Cohen ?gilt edge, gold back and face? cards (label partly torn and skinned, and lacking flap at opposite end). RARE; the first deck we have seen in any state.
