[MAGIC CIRCLE] Two Documents Announcing the Formation of London's Magic Circle. [London, 1905]. Including a small printed handbill dated June 17, 1905 announcing a ?general meeting of all interested in magic ? to discuss the formation of a magical society." Accompanied by three pieces of printed letterhead for the ?Chapender Magical Society," the first name adopted by this club before it settled on the name it is now known by, The Magic Circle. On the verso of these three sheets is the penciled draft of a lengthy form letter explaining the aims of the Magic Circle, likely in the hand of Maurice Garland. The draft includes details regarding the society's goals (regular meetings, social aspects, a forum to create and refine tricks, a library, etc.), dues, meeting place, and ??all Amateur & Professional Gentlemen are specially invited?" to attend and join.
