[MAGIC LANTERN]. Pettibone New Improved Sciopticon. Cincinnati: Pettibone Mfg. Co., ca. 1880s. A "Champion" model magic lantern with stenciled 1888 patent date. Affixed to wooden base with original decoratively cast arms and claw feet, acorn-shaped caps.
Includes six revolving color glass slide discs, and original wooden storage case with paper label under lid. This model was nicknamed the "Peacock" for its appearance when a disc is loaded in the lantern.
Size displayed 12 3/4 x 11 2/3 x 20 1/2".
Without chimney; not tested.
