[MAPS AND PRINTS]. DORÉ, Gustave (1832-1883). Pair of Large Engraved Framed Prints, One Signed by Doré and the Engraver, Herbert Bourne. [United States: ca. 1870s-1880s]. Sight of prints approximately 20 1/4 x 14 1/4". Matted and framed under plexiglass. Frame sizes approximately 27 1/4 x 21 3/4". THESE PRINTS COME WITH A COA FROM NATE D. SANDERS, STATING THAT THESE PRINTS WERE FROM THE ESTATE OF LEGENDARY SCIENCE FICTION/HORROR WRITER, RAY BRADBURY (1920-2012).
Condition
Plates toned, foxed. Neither examined out of frame. Very good.
- Provenance
Prints include: "Andromeda" (untitled - image of Andromeda chained to the rocks and being menaced by a sea serpent) - SIGNED IN PENCIL by Doré and Bourne; "Paul and Francesca Rimini" (two naked young lovers floating in the air). This pair comes with a French edition of La Vie et l'Oeuvre de Gustave Doré (1983, in slipcase).
