New York: Simon and Schuster, [1985]. 8vo. 843, [3, blank] pp. Publisher?s dark blue backstrip over black boards, spine lettered in gilt, publisher?s price clipped (clipping is uneven) dust jacket (front board lightly bumped at lower corner, p. 621 with a pencil note pointing out an error; jacket with mild wear and light sunning to spine). Fine. Housed in custom-made quarter blue morocco slipcase and chemise. FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY MCMURTRY ON THE TITLE-PAGE. Laid-in are two color snapshots of McMurtry at his legendary bookshop in Archer City, TX. Both photos with with the previous owner?s ink captions on the versos - one photo with previous owner and his wife with McMurtry.
