Oversize Nest of Twelve Boxes. European, ca. 1880. A borrowed coin, marked by its owner, vanishes from the magician's hands only to reappear, moments later, in the smallest of twelve wooden boxes, all nested one within the other. Each box finely turned form hardwood, with the outermost box crafted from a two-toned burled segment. Largest box diameter 3 5/8", smallest 1" (and will accommodate a US nickel).
An outstanding and very large and handsome set of props for this classic magic effect, and about the finest we have encountered. The precision workmanship of the turned boxes is precise.
Outer box with natural crack to lid; lid to third smallest box chipped.
