PERKINS, B. F. (American, 1904-1993). Pair of painted gourds. Circa 1980s. Gourds painted in acrylic. Gourds approximately 12 x 6?. Both painted in similar American flag motifs, with hanging cords. One gourd is signed in block letters. Minor rubbing. A fine pair. Perkins was a preacher as well as an artist; much of his art is replete with patriotic and religious symbolism. He is one of the most significant of the twentieth-century folk artists. Provenance:?purchased directly from the artist.
