SCHOFIELD, John (1831-1906). Signed Card. [N.p., n.d.] Card mounted onto a larger mount, inscribed "J. M. Schofield Maj Genl U. S. A." Card approximately 2 x 3". Mount approximately 2 x 4". Minor toning, faint soiling. Fine. Schofield held major commands in the Union Army during the Civil War, participating in several battles, including Sherman's Atlanta Campaign. After the war, President Andrew Johnson appointed him the Secretary of War and later became the Commanding General of the U. S. Army under several presidents. From the renowned personal collection of Dr. George D. Lacy.
