Full contemporary calf, spine compartments divided with double gilt fillets, black leather spine labels gilt (occasional pale spotting, some marginal browning). Lacking half?titles and terminal imprints in Vol. I and II. FIRST EDITION, considered the ?archetype of the historical novel throughout the world? (PMM).
