Albumen spirit photo of a woman in a black mourning dress seated before a table and holding a mourning wreath in her lap. The wraith-like image of her departed child floating behind her, hands on the woman?s shoulders. CDV format, 4 1/8 x 2 3/8?. Printed photographer?s mount, with inked notations to verso reading, ?No. 12 / [illegible] Human Nature [illegible].? In the upper right are the penciled initials ?WSM,? possibly in the hand of the photographer.
