- Lot Description
[DAVENPORT BROTHERS] Spiritualistic Association Endorsement Letter of the Davenport Brothers. Dated March 23, 1864 and penned in a neat cursive hand on a single sheet of blank paper, the missive is addressed "To the Messrs. Davenport," and reads, "The Executive Committee of the Spiritualistic Association of Baltimore tender to you their sincere thanks for your donation (Twenty Four Dollars,) to the fun for furnishing the Lecture Hall, and also desire to express to you their appreciation of the great importance and value of the Spirit Manifestations which ar so wonderfully and performfully [?] presented through your mediumship." The letter is SIGNED by Wash[ington] A. Danskin, a prominent spiritualist and author of How I Became a Spiritualist (1858).
