VAN DINE, S. S. (pseudonym of Willard Huntington WRIGHT, 1888-1939). A complete run of Philo Vance Mysteries and an omnibus. New York: Charles Scribner?s Sons, 1926-1939. There were 15 movie mysteries with Philo Vance (released 1929-1947) based on these books. Vance was portrayed by William Powell, Basil Rathbone, Paul Lukas, Edmund Lowe, Wilfrid Hyde-White, Grant Richards, Warren William, James Stephenson, William Wright, Alan Curtis.
