Illustrated with 3 plates and one folding map. 414 pp. Contemporary half brown calf over marbled boards, spine tooled in blind and gilt, black gilt morocco lettering label.
Condition
Binding quite worn, scuffed, hinges starting, text toned, thumbsoiled, foxed. Good. FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. With school award inscription on ffep. from 1835, inscribed by Rev. Joseph Bancroft Reade (1801-1870) a photography pioneer and co-founder of the Royal Microscopical Society and the Royal Meteorological Society. Mr & Mrs Freygang traveled throughout the country and Mrs. Greygang is surely one of the earlest women to make such a long and arduous journey through such then distant lands. An excellent association.
