London: Dodsley, Nourse, Millar, Vaillant, and Patterson, 1753. 4tos. Illustrated with 28 plates, including 9 folding maps, 4 frontispieces, and other plates. Several engraved headpieces. 4 volumes. 399; 374, [15, Index]; 255; 301, [20, Index and Explanation] pp. Half-titles in volumes III and IV. All volumes bound in contemporary mottled calf, boards ruled in gilt with gilt floral cornerpieces, spines ruled and tooled in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, green and 2 red gilt morocco lettering labels, gilt board edges.
Condition
Joints repaired, some wear and cracking to joints, hinges starting, text toned, occasionally foxed, soiled, occasional ink notations. Very good. Each volume with the armorial bookplate of the Duke of Beaufort. FIRST EDITIONS.
