[VOYAGES AND TRAVELS]. MOSER, Louis. The Caucasus and Its People, with a Brief History of Their Wars and a Sketch of the Achievements of the Renowned Chief Schamyl. London: David Nutt, 1856. 8vo. 204 pp. Publisher's full brown cloth, boards ruled and paneled in blind, spine lettered in gilt, yellow coated endleaves.
Condition
Spine sunned, some edgewear, front joint creased, boards soiled, hinges starting, endleaves soiled, pencil notations on front endleaves, bookseller's ticket on rp., text toned with occasional thumbsoiling. Very good. FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE FFEP.: "M. Tucker [?] With the Author's Compliments". The book also describes the third ascent (the first by Englishmen) of Mount Ararat. Moser spent much of his free time in the region. A rare and interesting little volume.
