Oxford: Imprimerie de l'Universite, 1913. 4to. Illustrated with 37 plates with accompanying descriptive tissue guards. 232 pp. Text in French. Publisher's full red buckram, spine stamped in gilt.
Condition
Spine sunned and rubbed, boards rubbed, lightly bubbled, corners bumped and worn, endleaves and plates with occasional foxing, text and plates mildly toned. Very good. FIRST EDITION OF THIS SEMINAL TEXT IN WHICH STEIN TRANSLATED HUNDREDS OF EARLY CHINESE MANUSCRIPTS AND SLIPS; ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOKS ON THE HAN DYNASTY, SILK ROAD ADMINISTRATION, AND EARLY CHINESE DAILY LIFE.
