[WILDE, Oscar (1854-1900)]. The Ballad of Reading Gaol by C. 3. 3. New York: Benj. R. Tucker, Publisher, 1899. Small 8vo. 44, [4, blank] pp. (printed on one side only). Publisher's quarter cream cloth over blue cloth boards, front board stamped in gilt (spine toned, foxed, rubbed, text a bit toned). Near fine. FIRST AMERICAN PIRACY, AND THE FIRST AMERICAN APPEARANCE OF THIS CLASSIC BY WILDE. The first of three American piracies published in 1899 in the rare cloth variant, more often found in wrappers. Not in Mason. From the renowned personal collection of Dr. George D. Lacy. Measurements: 7 x 5 x 1".
