- Lot Description
[WPA ? FEDERAL THEATRE PROGRAM]. Large Group of Nearly 400 Photographs of WPA Circus Acts and Performers. [Ca. 1930s]. Black and white photographs, nearly all with ?Please Credit WPA Federal Theatre Photos" inkstamped on versos. Sizes range from approximately 14 x 11" to 7 x 5". Generally toned, curled, creased, some soiled, dampstained, scuffed, chipped, some tears, edgeworn. Generally very good. With several WPA 3-Ring Circus Official Route Cards from the 1930s. Some subjects include: Polynesian-themed act, wild west performers, African-American performers in ?native" garb, clowns, backstage scenes, dog acts, elephant acts, lion and animal tamers, aerialists, a bear act with a bear wearing roller skates, male and female performers in costumes, including one photo of a woman dressed as ?Snow White" and men in masks as the dwarfs.
