Derrick Guild channels Dutch Rococo and 17th c. Spanish painting in contemporary depictions of everyday objects. Like René Magritte, Guild uses sly humor to play with our subconscious, linking mystery and realism. The recipient of numerous awards and accolades in his native Scotland, he was inducted into the Royal Scottish Academy in 2010. Guild has been given solo exhibitions at Paton Gallery in London, England; Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh, Scotland; and Allan Stone Gallery, New York City, NY. He has participated in group exhibitions throughout the United States and United Kingdom.
