The medal, 1-1/2†diameter centers with standing image of King Hendrick and Sir William Johnson , with text surrounding the image, “In Commemoration of the Battle of Lake George Fought September 8, 1755â€. The reverse text “Society of Colonial Wars in the State of New York, Monument Dedicated September 8th, 1903â€. The medal dangles from original ribbon with pinback. The Lake George Medal 1903 is a commemorative bronze medal issued by the Society of Colonial Wars to mark the dedication of the monument to King Hendrick and Sir William Johnson in Lake George Battlefield Park. King Hendrick was a Mohawk leader and Speaker for the Mohawk Council. Hendrick formed a close alliance with Sir William Johnson, the Superintendent of Indian affairs in North America.
