William N. Currens enlisted on 8/27/1861 as a Priv. and on 11/27/1861, he mustered into "C" Co. Maryland 1st PHB (Potomac Home Brigade) Cavalry. He was Mustered Out on 6/28/1865 at Harper's Ferry, W.V . Two pieces, first; His Commission document, 15†x 10â€, issued at Frederick Md., August 6, 1863. In small part “Know ye, That special trust and confidence, Company C of the Battalion PHB ... from June 10, 1862 .....†Signed by the Major Henry A. Cole, August 6, 1863. VG. ... plus, Studio mounted albumen photograph, of Currens and his grandchildren as ID’s on the reverse, “Mildred A. Currens, 5 years old ... William P. Currens Jr., 3 years old with their Grandfather, Sgy. Wm. N. Currens, Co. C Coles Marylanders.â€
