Korean Table Top Size Bronze Replica of the Bell of King Seongdeok. Ornate bronze Asian-style bell featuring verdigris accents and embossed floral motifs, suspended from a dark wood and polished brass frame that includes a matching striker hanging to the side.
Size: 13 1/2 x 8 x 14 1/2 in.
The Bell of King Seongdeok — often called the Emille Bell — is a monumental bronze bell cast in 771 CE during Korea’s Unified Silla period and celebrated as one of the finest achievements of East Asian metalwork. Commissioned to honor King Seongdeok, the bell weighs nearly 19 tons and is admired for its balanced proportions, intricate relief decoration, and deep, resonant tone engineered through sophisticated casting techniques. Decorative panels depict celestial beings and lotus motifs symbolizing harmony and enlightenment, reflecting the era’s Buddhist aesthetics. Beyond its technical mastery, the bell carries enduring cultural legends and remains a powerful emblem of Korean craftsmanship, spirituality, and historical continuity.
