- Lot Description
Mirage Frosted Lucite Woman's Face with Flower and Curved Hair Sculpture. A gorgeous Art Nouveau style likely produced in the 1980s, with a label attached to the bottom that reads "Mirage Ltd Bohemia New York."
Size: 14 1/4 x 4 3/4 x 18 in.
Mirage Ltd was a manufacturer known for producing Lucite and hard resin decorative items, including sculptures and mirrors, based in Bohemia/Ronkonkoma, New York. Primarily active during the 1960s to 1980s, they produced items in Art Deco and Art Nouveau revival styles, such as popular lovers’ profile sculptures and detailed mirrors. The town of Bohemia, now absorbed into Islip, was founded by Czech immigrants in the 1800s, many of whom brought their expertise in glassmaking and sculpture with them and contributed to the economic and cultural boom of the area.
