Waclaw Bernard Szczeblewski (1888–1965) Poland, Bronze Boy Statuette "Mousse Siffleur". Signed on base, with impressed authentication stamp.
Size: 2 1/4 x 9 1/4 in.
Wacław Bernard Szczeblewski (1888–1965) was a Polish artist—sculptor, painter, interior decorator, and educator—best known for founding and directing the Pomeranian School of Fine Arts, first in Grudziądz (1924–1934) and later in Gdynia. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, he also studied in major European cities including Paris, London, Berlin, Vienna, and Copenhagen. After World War II, Szczeblewski focused on restoring and decorating churches in the Pomeranian region, creating Kaszub-inspired polychrome murals, stained glass windows, and altar paintings. His broader body of work included realistic genre scenes, portraits, religious art, and public decorative commissions rooted in regional and Slavic folk traditions. A central figure in the cultural life of Pomerania, he was an active member of both the Association of Polish Artists and the Kashubian Association. He died in Gdynia on July 23, 1965, leaving behind a rich legacy preserved in regional museums and commemorated by public honors.
