- Lot Description
Lefty Dave Righetti debuted briefly in 1979 with the New York Yankees before winning American League Rookie of the Year honors in 1981. In 15 starts that season, he went 8-4 with a 2.05 ERA. After making 31 starts and throwing a No-Hitter in 1983, "Rags" transitioned seamlessly as the Yankees closer in 1984 with 31 saves and a 2.34 ERA. He made the AL All-Star team in '86 and led the league with 46 saves. His final season as a player came in 1995 with the White Sox. From 2000 to 2017, Righetti served as pitching coach for the San Francisco Giants and won three World Series (2010, 2012 & 2014), guiding baseball's most dominant staff during that run.
This offered Yankees road jersey was worn by Dave Righetti during the 1988 season when he had a 5-4 record with 25 saves and a 3.52 ERA. The gray knit button-up jersey is lettered "NEW YORK" across the front and features his No. "19" on the reverse. All letters and numbers are done navy blue tackle twill with white border. Identification of the name, year and uniform number ("Righetti 88 1") is stitched in blue on a strip tag within the collar. Proper Wilson tagging appears on the left front tail labeled with a size “46” flag tag. Rags has autographed the front of the shirt in bold black marker. The all-original and unaltered jersey displays light to moderate wear and remains in terrific condition. PSA/DNA has certified the autograph (AP57392).
