Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, known as Ronaldinho Gaúcho or simply Ronaldinho, is largely considered the most creative, artistic and beautiful footballer to ever play the sport. The Brazilian legend won back-to-back FIFA World Player of the Year awards (2004 and 2005) as well as the coveted Ballon d'Or in 2005. He is the only player ever to win a World Cup (2002), Copa América (1999), Confederations Cup, Champions League, Copa Libertadores and Ballon d'Or. During his lengthy tenure with the Brazil National Team (1999-2013), Ronaldinho talled 33 goals in 97 Caps. Renowned for his magical footwork and dribbling ability, free-kick accuracy, tricks, feints, nutmegs, no-look passes and bicycle kicks, he earned the nickname "O Bruxo" ("The Wizard"). Playing predominantly as an attacking midfielder or left wing, Ronaldinho scored over 200 goals during his prolific club career that began as an 18-year-old with Grêmio in the Brazil's top professional league (Campeonato Brasileiro Série A). He transferred to Paris Saint-Germain in 2001 beginning a storied European club run that peaked with FC Barcelona (2003-08) and made him a global icon. In the most recent player rankings from the esteemed IFFHS, Ronaldinho finished 10th all time, trailing only Pele and Ronaldo among Brazilians.
Presented here is a 1998-99 Ronaldinho Grêmio match worn jersey from his rookie/debut season at the professional level. In three seasons with the club from Porto Alegre, he scored 47 goals in 89 league games. The collared shirt is striped in blue, black and white with patches of Grêmio, apparel maker Penalty, and club sponsor Chevrolet Astra on the front. The reverse features Ronaldinho's iconic No. "10" in black with more sponsorship logos. With such a short tenure at Grêmio, it is incredibly rare for one of his gamers to surface. This one comes with excellent provenance from the Brazil National Team's longtime medic. The shirt is tagged by São Paolo apparel company Penalty inside the collar in size XL. It displays light to moderate wear and comes with full authentication paperwork from MEARS as well as a letter from the Brazil National Team medic.
