- Lot Description
Back when Brian Wilson could barely grow any facial hair, he wore this Team USA baseball jersey during the 1999 Junior Pan American Baseball Championships held in Mexico. Cuba won the scholastic tournament by beating USA in the final. Born in 1982, Wilson was just 17 years old at the time, a star pitcher (and hitter) from the Northeast out of Londonderry (NH) High School. He started his college career at LSU in 2000-01.
The navy blue mesh jersey features a large "USA" logo on the front along with young B-Weezy's uniform No. "20" in white-on-red tackle twill. Tagged by Russell Athletic on the left front tail, it comes in size 48 and shows evidence of laundering and multiple game use. The upper back has "WILSON" in white on a navy nameplate along with a large "20" white-on-red tackle twill. We found an image online of Wilson wearing what appears to be this exact jersey with matching characteristics to the front logo and numbers. Comes with letter signed by "The Beard" himself.

Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2003 out of LSU, the 6’ 1” flame-thrower developed into a reliable big-league reliever and earned the closer’s job in 2008. Over the next four seasons, “B-Weezy” saved 163 games (most in MLB in that span) and earned three NL All-Star nods. Most importantly, he helped the Giants snap a 56-year title drought in 2010 and win their first World Series in San Francisco. Sporting a thick black beard, mohawk, tattoos and flashy cleats on the mound, Wilson was a fan favorite and true 1-of-1 with moxie, flair, and a big heart. His “Fear the Beard” mantra became a pop culture phenomenon in the Bay Area and beyond. After picking up his second World Series ring with the Giants in 2012, Wilson played his final two seasons with the Dodgers and settled in Los Angeles after retirement.
