A FRENCH SATINWOOD MARQUETRY INLAID ROSEWOOD MANTLE CLOCK, BY BITTON AINE, SEMS, LATE 19TH CENTURY, the mille rais gilt bronze and glass cover hinged bezel, opening to a silvered engine turned dial with black Roman chapters and blued cut steel Breguet hands over twin key escapements and signed "Bitton Aine / à Sems," reversing to a brass twin barrel movement with conforming cover numbered 596, before a notched wheel and silk string adjustable disc pendulum numbered 596, within a rectangular case inlaid with grape cluster and leaf corner spandrels above stylized scrolling grape clusters and vines flanking a fruit filled basket, on a molding trimmed base with grapevine entwined thyrsus inlay and raised on short block feet. Good condition with expected tarnished dial, normal age cracks and wear on block feet. Clock mechanism appears clean but Simpson's does not guarantee clocks nor any timepieces.
