Miguel Ortiz Berrocal (1933-2006) "Romeo e Giulietta"
Spain/Italy, c. 1966
The "puzzle" sculpture of sixteen interlocking pieces disassembles to reveal a wide range of geometric forms and negative spaces, set on turning base, stamped mark Berrocal 790, 8 x 6 in.
Note: In his native Spain, Berrocal studied the physical sciences and architecture. His sculpture reflected his interest in the intersection of science and art. He conceived his works to be "observed with the hands."
